You no longer have to walk around the house shutting windows, locking doors and switching off the lights in every room. With a voice command, this is all done and you can snuggle in and sleep. Smart homes require the right smart products to ensure that they perform the expected functions.

Don’t expect masses of controls and sound settings to tweak, you can adjust the bass and treble to suit your ear. That said, I think the audio on the Home Hub is pretty darn good for such a small speaker. Once you’ve linked these accounts you can control them all from your Google Home-connected devices.
Display + Google Home View
All the previous Google Home models were without displays, making them handy little speakers — or in the case of the Home Max, a huge, powerful speaker — first and foremost. The Home Hub definitely doesn’t give up decent sound to get the display, but it’s not going to win any awards, either. I’d say in my brief few days of testing that it’s not quite as powerful and doesn’t get as loud as the standard Google Home from 2016, but it’s definitely way better than the Home Mini. All the Google Home’s other helpful tricks are here as well. The Google Home's night mode feature will dim the device's light and lower its volume so you don't wake up the rest of your household. You can either manually turn this feature on, or schedule it to trigger at the same time every day.

Functionally, the Home Mini, standard Home, and Home Max were all mostly identical. The Home Hub throws a wrench in that equation with its 7-inch display. If anything, I was actually impressed by the sound it managed to put out for its size — but still, you’ll likely be happier with the standard Home if audio is your primary concern. Google even decided to go with the typical Cast-platform-based Google Home OS over Android Things, the OS that its partners use for their Smart Displays.
It comes built right into modern Android phones, but you can also download Google Assistant for your iPhone. You ought to be appropriately educated on what is the Google Nest Hub and its functions. While the Home can’t match Alexa in terms of connected apps — at least not yet — the personal assistant does play well with the most common streaming services. For music, you can connect your speaker to Pandora, Google Music, Deezer, Spotify, and YouTube. If you use any of those services, it’s a good idea to link your accounts.
